Post Make $400,000/year on your silver!

Subject:Make $400,000/year on your silver!
By: Jason Hommel, Silver Stock Report

Overview: This is an opportunity that is available only to those people who actually have silver. This opportunity is not available to those people who have paper silver, nor is it available for people who write for companies who claim to have silver.

I normally like everything Jason has to say...but this shows a true lack of understanding on his part of how Ebay works. The amount of profit is no where near 21.5%. Let's say you pay $1382 for the 100 oz bar from Kitco. How much is shipping? Enough to put it over $1400 easily. The average sale on Ebay, right now, may be $1680 or so. Here's the problem...the listing fees will be $50 or so easily. The Paypal fees will be another $50ish (and you pretty much HAVE to take Paypal now to be an Ebay seller if you want to get any interest). That takes your profit down to $180, only about 12%. And it doesn't even take into account the fact that the main reason the spread is high on Ebay is because of all the 10% off specials Ebay runs and FIFTEEN and TWENTY-FIVE percent rebates (max of $250) through Microsoft. If people know they're getting $250 back, they will bid $250 more than they would normally. Now you the seller may not incur this and thus it helps your profit, but these are temporarily inflating Ebay prices in general, and will surely not run forever. What do you do when they stop these promotions and the prices fall back to $1450-1500 or so? By the time you pay your shipping on the bars, Ebay listing fees, and Paypal fees, you'd be operating this "business" at a loss!

Now perhaps Jason's point was to demonstrate the shortage of large quantities of silver, which is clearly becoming a reality....in which case this is a moot point because you would have no way of restocking your business. I just found it funny that he seemed to feel this was a can't miss opportunity otherwise. No offense Jason...you're right on the money most of the time. The REAL money, that is. SILVER.

I wish someone would point me to these dern coupons! And I agree with your points Dental, just not enough to make it worth the effort. Most of the bullion dealers don't take paypal, due to the high cost.

Hommel is like those guys selling get rich quick schemes on late night infomercials. He makes his living selling subscriptions, not investing in PM"s.

Default Living and ebay...

No coupons, No Paypal.
I take cash on ALL my sales on ebay. Especially PMs. Foolish to do anything else.
Jason Hommel makes a living on advising. He will SURVIVE on PMs.
Just like many of the rest of us.
I have bought at my LCS (local coin shop) and sold (flipped) on ebay for good profit.
All SINCE the drop from the 20-21 dollar range.
The market IS disconnected and ebay proves it.
Here, I'll show you.
I am going to put 2 10 ounce bars on ebay this weekend and I will tell you all the fees and prices.
Then I will go replace it at my LCS and we will see what kind of profit I have.
Heck!
I may have just started a NEW career!!!

Default Dewed, you are SO far off. Have you ever sold PMs on ebay???

Point by point:
I'd buy the bar locally, no shipping. I'd deal in 10 oz bars because I can get a bigger premium on ebay. So no, we are at $138, that is spot plus .55, what my LCS (just called) charges on PMs.
Listing fees will NOT be $50. Gotcha there, I will give you $5 since I am talking about 10 oz bars. Paypal fees: ZERO!!! Have to take Paypal my BUTT. I don't take paypal and will have NO PROBLEM at all selling at a good price. My excellent feedback and being from the MidWest makes me someone with a very HIGH TRUST quotient. And I am worth it, too.
Rebates?!?! I don't give no stinkin' rebates. Won't wrap myself up in that.
I am a direct, no frills, get what you see, see what you pay for type of seller.
I keep my profit, thank you so much. Temporarily inflating prices on ebay???
What are you talking about?
PM prices have been in the $20-23 range falling with the current wash in spot price down to about the $17 per ounce it is at right now. This has been very consistant. I have been watching ebay for years now and I see REAL MARKET prices on ebay. They always have silver, but it has been a bit light lately. Probably due to the lower prices. The past few days though have been up in average compared to the week before, I am guessing, because of the lower volume available. Sounds like good ol' free market Supply and Demand to me.
All the rest you have typed, and thanks for this opportunity to set the record straight, is so much blah, blah, blah.
Jason knows what he is talking about and I will prove it.
Time to sell some 10 oz bars!!!
JesterJay
PS Not that the FIRST post this guy makes is NEGATIVE about making money on PMs. Another Nadler plant, perhaps!?

Right on the money!!
I have done it both ways- Bought on ebay (very patient!) with those 10% off they offer, get good deals that include shipping.
Sold there and made profit after fees and shipping.
I dont do this for my main purchasing, just when I come across good deals.

Maybe I should try selling more

Thanks Jester!!

If you bought it locally then you will have to pay taxes! Atleast here in Oklahoma

I find the best deals on eBay. Use advanced search options, and find coins when the auction ends past midnight and before 7am. That way competition wont be so fierce.

Default The talk of silver shortage is wilful disinformation

What should be price of silver is a entirely different.

But to say that silver is NOT AVAILABLE is simply spreading disinformation. On the contrary this talk of shortage of silver coins at certain stores or distribution points is doing more damage to silver. That amounts to declaring that due to lack of public subscription, stores failed to build inventory on a regular basis and now these stores find it difficult to meet the demand all of sudden as logistics take their own time. It always takes almost 10 to 15 working days to indent silver and manufacture desired coins.

Traditional countries where people regularly subscribe to silver articles have found that silver is available on asking. Take for example India, silver is not at all produced/ mined but entirely imported. Still all shops have ample stock of any silver article or coin. This is solely due to the fact that regualr subscription by clients have enabled the shop keeper to update his inventory on regular basis.

Price of silver doesnt decide profit for a shop. Turnover in the product is improtant. Return on capital is very important for any shop. Shopkeepers and retailers are not investors and they work on sread between manufacturing price and retail price.

Anybody visiting India, you are invited to contact me at Chennai Phone 24347354. you can have any quantity of coins delivered within two working days. These two days are required to convert silver bars in to required coins.

I am dissappointed that analyst like Jason Hommel do not know these simple truth and everyday he chants silver shortage mantra. Or is it deliberate?
