For the month of January the US Mint shipped 4,017,500 ASE's and 4,017,500 YTD

This is a nice start compared to 2018, but the real sales of ASE's comes throughout the year and hopefully 2019 will be well on it's way back to the highs of the recent past.

Many articles touting the robust ASE sales this January compared to a year ago. Keep in mind it's not ASE sales to us but to the Dealers and there really isn't anything which points to robust retail sales "YET".

2018 Jan sales 3.2 Mil - total for the year 15.7 Mil

2017 Jan sales 5.1 Mil - total for the year 18.1 Mil

2016 Jan sales 5.9 Mil - total for the year 37.7 Mil

2015 Jan sales 5.5 Mil - total for the year 47.0 Mil

As of Thursday February 21st, the US Mint has shipped 2,057,500 ASE's for the month of February and 6,075,000 YTD.

That is almost 800K for the last two days, if Teddy sees this information expect a new article about how JP Morgan is buying them up again to add to their secret stock pile that only Teddy knows how much it is.

The dealers are sure aware of this increase and have all jumped on the bandwagon yesterday by increasing their premiums for ASE's. Not that they are paying more, just that they believe they can get you to pay more for each one today.

APMEX increased their ASE premiums to $4.09 for a single and $3.09 each at the monster box level

SD Bullion increased their ASE premiums to $3.39 for a single and $2.69 each at the monster box level

Gainesville increased their ASE premiums to $3.49 for a single and $2.99 each at the monster box level

Keep in mind the majority of the time, dealers will only pay you between zero - $1.25 over spot for a past year ASE.

It might be time to consider some of the other government rounds that have lower premiums and some are on sale for under $2.00 each

Gainesville is selling mixed one ounce rounds for 49 each

Plus 90% is still selling for near it's lowest premiums in years for those that consider it.

No other premium increases were noticed today.

If you haven't read about the US Mint already, here is the latest official news that the dealers knew about last week and immediately raised their premiums the same day. I have to wonder just how many of these dealers will actually run out of ASE's before the mint is shipping them again. Last year and on other occasions like this some of the largest dealers never ran out, but pushed their premiums to the maximum they thought they could cash in on. Ala Rope-A-Dope. Expect the premiums to rise much higher if it becomes a known fact many smaller dealers are out of stock while the big boys hang on to all the inventory.

Sales of the Silver American Eagles are off to stronger start this year, and the U.S. Mint has once again been caught flat-footed. Dealers received the following statement from the Mint last Thursday:
This is to inform you that we have temporarily sold out of our inventories of 2019-dated American Eagle Silver Bullion Coins. In addition, all remaining 2018-dated inventories have been sold too.
The West Point Mint is busy producing additional 2019-dated American Eagle Silver Bullion Coins. We hope to be able to re-launch the 2019-dated coins in a few weeks.
Premiums for the coins moved higher immediately following the announcement, and they could move higher still if demand remains strong.

Since last weeks initial premium rise for ASE's

APMEX has decreased their premium by 10 to $3.99 - $2.99

SD Bullion is still the same at $3.39 - $2.69 currently the best premium at the single and monster box level if your inclined to pay these prices

Gainesville is still the same at $3.49 - $2.99
