Obviously BITCOINS are a lot more valuable than the lowly silver.

It wouldn't even take that. What if TPTB pulled the plug?

I don't think any of us here would say that. But physical, tangible silver is kinda hard to use to buy stuff online or over the phone, isn't it?

Face to Face transactions, Keeping it local is keeping it close, and it may come back around in a future trade.

How can you whine a blue streak regularly about 'paper' Silver futures, but yet you believe in Bitcoins? Bitcoins don't even have the possibility of a physical delivery like futures do. Sure looks to me like 'Vaporware'.

One main object of possessing physical, tangible Silver is to own metals that you can use for transactions in case we are reduced to stone knives and bearskins and all the phones and computers are shut down. Otherwise, there are much more efficient ways to conduct business.

I'm trying to learn how to do business in physical silver and gold in my line - large-marina management. I'm thinking of offering a reasonable discount to those customers who pay in silver or gold. But I'm trying to understand how to avoid being ripped off with fake coins and bullion.

    Two suggestions:

1.) Develop some numismatic skills so that you don't take the risk of accepting any counterfeits.
2.) Only accept standardized coins such as ASE's, Maple's, or Philharmonic's that you could recognize in an instant when someone dumps them on your desk.

Also, you might want to consider charging a premium, both for price risk, and the fact that you are the one accepting them.
