Question about Silver Quarters and Dimes....

I am of the understanding that 1964 and earlier quarters and dimes contain 90% silver by weight, but what about the 40% quarters that were supposed to be manufactured after that?

I need to know what exact years the 40% coins were made, and if it's worth it to pick through my change and keep them!

I do notice alot of them still in circulation.

Yes I believe it is worth it and I think the years they were made were from 1965 thru 1969 someone correct me if I'm wrong.

correct years, but only for the Kennedy half. The 70 Kennedys were 40% too, but apparently only made for the mint sets, not circulation.

no, only the halves were 40%. Quarters & dimes up to 64 only

1964 and older halves,quarters,dimes are 90%

70-65 halves only are 40%

and war nickles are 35% i think years in the early 1940s and they are marked with a mintmark style letter over the capital dome on the rear

there are also some PROOF silver issues of coins in later years

The War Nickels are 35% silver, and were minted from '42 to '45. They also contain 9% manganese, giving them a darker color. These are the only nickels that I'm aware of that have any silver in them at all.
