    Default Silver eagles 2005

There was an article on this website a few months back stating that the 2005 silver american eagles may be a low mint year. Has there been any further information to support that?

I have been looking for current information regarding this and have not been able to find any.

    any info. would be great,

    thanks

I believe you were referencing this article?

    From this article:

"Full yearly mint production figures can be viewed at: http://www.usmint.gov/mint_programs/...ales&year=2005"

    Default Thanks Peter

    Actually this was the article.

    http://news.silverseek.com/SilverSeek/1124734411.php

The website you provided was just what I was looking for. It seems that even though 2005 was relatively low compared to 2004/03. There are several dates with lower mints that are not demanding the dollars like the 1996/97. For instance, the 1995 mint was below 5 million and you can buy a roll on ebay for the same price as a roll of 2004's.

Any idea why this might be?

    thanks again,
    Edward

    Default Silver Eagles 2005

OK, I'm the first to admit I'm new to the silver scene, so please don't think I'm an idiot. I have a couple of questions that I hope someone is willing to answer. When exactly will the 2006 Silver Eagles be released? I know the obvious answer is Jan 1, 2006, but I also know obvious isn't always correct. Also, has the price of prior year's eagles historically increased shortly after the current year is released? Is it a good idea, if the price is what I believe is "right", to stock up on 2005 eagles before the release of 2006? Once again, the obvious answer is "it's always a good idea to buy more if the price is right". I guess I'm just looking for a little guidance as I get started. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The only SAE i would buy for numismatic value would be the 96

The '96 is the only one of the SAE's that has shown much numismatic growth to date. The proofs have shown a bit more growth, but not as much as some of the Pandas. The 2000 went from 20-25 to 75 in three months. A nice increase to be sure. I guess it pays to diversify.

While the SAE's are a nice looking, honest, US produced ounce of silver round/coin, I just can't imagine any of them ever really being numismatically valuable, at least not in my lifetime. There were just so many of them produced. Seems if one was looking for a (more) valuable silver coin (with less of a premium) for a real investment (numismatically speaking) I would think the smart silver coin investor would keep right on shopping. Fwiw.... Chuck
