View Full Version : Silver pacifier?
My wife and I are going to have our first child in January and I was wondering if anyone knows where I could buy a silver pacifier. I don't want my kid sucking on that petrochemical plastic garbage.

Do you want your kid to turn into a smurf?

I can understand not wanting them sucking on petrochemicals but it seems there ought to be something better (softer too!) than silver!
Once their teeth [start to] grow in they could crack them on something so hard in their mouth!
Try doing a little research for natural pacifier substitutes before you go and shove a hunk of hard metal in their mouth!
well, since the smurfs were commies, no, altho I did kinda have a thing for smurfette, yet there was only one female smurf..... hmmmm... anyway...
When the kid gets teeth he or she will be too old for a pacifier of any kind. We used silver pacifiers when we were colonies and I figured they'd have to be good with the whole antibacterial mojo thing they'd have going.
Sadly, I would have no idea how to go about making my own.

I don't recommend the pacifier idea either. In fact I don't recommend pacifiers, period. A baby that never has one does just fine without it. I do recommend a silver baby spoon to use for one meal every other day or so, but not all the time. You can get too much of a good thing, if you put it in your body...

Hey, I realized that I myself have a silver pacifier...I keep a silver eagle in my pocket, and when some SOB pulls out in front of me, or my wife starts giving me hell, I take it out and, tada, I grin and life goes on...

A jeweler can take any small object and make an investment casting of it..... just bring in a regular pacifier and tell them you want this duplicated in Silver.
You might ask about their skill in working pure Silver..... they're used to Sterling, which has 7 1/2 % copper.

My son never used one, nor sucked his thumb. I guess you will be doing the all natural route? Cotton diapers and breast feeding?

Those "smurfs" simply took in way too much, the pharmaceutical companies (with the help of mainstream media) want you to think you'll "smurf out" after touching the stuff, although i agree it shouldn't be used constantly like in a pacifier, maybe use the silver one (wouln't necessarily have to be pure silver, kinda like the silver clothing) when the baby is feeling sick or just every so often.

the healthiest thing is to breastfeed until the teeth come in and the child is weaned to solid food. the breast is the best ! after that they shouldn't need to suck on anything.

Before you get carried away on this, keep in mind that your child may not even like pacifiers. When my daughter was born, she would just spit it out, and would insert her (tasty) thumb instead.
Of course, you can still get the pacifier for yourself.... you may need it to calm yourself after the Messiah is done screwing this economy.

Oops....I responded to a late post! At the time the original question was posed, the Messiah was not yet an Obama-nation.

Maybe it's not a good idea for a baby to injest even microscopic bits of heavy metals. A silver spoon is one thing, but to keep a hunk of silver in a baby's mouth almost constantly? That would concern me.
