View Full Version : Are serial numbers chronological?

I have a question about the serial numbers on 100 oz Engelhards (or JMs). Are they chronological?

Say for example, I have 2 100 oz Engelhards, and one has the serial number C001234 and the other has the number P001234. Does the bar with the C in front of the serial number mean that it's "older" than the bar with the P in front of it's number?

Thanks in advance for the replies.

Yup,
Chronic and logical.
Alpha numerical order. Older ones don't have letters in the serial number. Some have more digits than others too.
Not sure if they started with the number "1",

Why is it that ALL I've seen from Engelhard 100oz bars are bars with Cs or Ps at the beginning of the serial numbers?

I just went through about 30 this week, nothing but Cs and Ps. Where are the A B C D E Fs???
