A co-worker of mine bought a colorized ASE with Reagan on it and was trying to find a value for it. Any suggestions. Ebay? Anywhere else? He was also wondering if he could "clean" the paint coating off. What would be the best way to do this without damaging the coin? Thanks for tips.

A lot seem to go for 15+6 dollars shipping on ebay. So after ebay fees and realistic shipping costs I would say 16-18 dollars. So it does look like people will pay a slight premium for this colorized SAE
Unless the colorization is really bad Id leave it on...

Colorized Eagles, Morgan, and Peace dollars, and Kenedy half-dollars are gimmics created by someone declaring them a "collectable" and trying to sell them to the uninformed.
A 3 or 4 more dollars can probably be obtained if a buyer can be found who who believes the "collectable" bull, or who is compulsive and believes "I've just got to have one".
Otherwise, the colorized eagle is worth what an uncolorized Eagle is worth. The colorization is a vinyl decal that can easily be removed with acetone or by placing the coin in slow boiling water for a few minutes. Doing the latter will make the decal peal off, and any remaining easily pulled off using fingers or a pair of tweezers.
Either process will not marr the surface of the coin.

Ditto- I have never and would never buy anything but .999 silver uncolored and pristine as can be.

On ebay- I see they sit a long time when color.... often the seller has to be the lowest price- even then the coin can sit.
One thing- on the colored is that - fake is a thing I think about. The paint to hide the fact that the coin is not full silver.
Fad coins are like disco shoes and tie dye tee shirts, and plaid bell bottoms, and clomper shoes- blue swayde. While listening to ahcy breaky heart- by Billy Rae Cyrus and doing the Macarana. sort of like taking the ornate wood carved trim on a house and putting up vynel siding.
It is like going to an 80s big hair band concert- and stuck in a time warp- big hair every where- you feel smothered- and the macrarena plays on. (disco ball on ceiling)
