Yikes! That's an expensive ounce of gold! But just so everybody knows, that's NOT the real Amero. That's an artist's collector's coin and it is not being minted by the treasury. There are several "collectors" Amero versions floating around these days being marketed in limited editions.

That's a NAFTA (Mexican) free trade eagle so that means they're NOT protected there and so could be used for "dead-bird coinage"...
Here they're bitchen about the price it costs to produce a penny or a nickel and instead of bringing the value of the coin UP, they'd rather produce one made of steel so they could finish the con-job they've started on devaluing the currency to include worthless coins in circulation too.
I'll know it's NOT a con-job when I start seeing some of these CRIMINALS* wearing orange JAIL coveralls sitting behind bars but when it comes to (our) government and monetary issues, I don't believe a thing they say. Even about the costs incurred producing our coinage...

*Criminals: You know like Henry Paulson, chairman of the Treasury Dept, The FED (ALL of them), anyone connected with Goldman Sachs or any other Wall Street firm that together with their willing accomplices in government that have perpetuated the ongoing fraud against the people of the U.S. These people are CRIMINALS plain and simple and should be treated as such. Soon as this...Amero hits circulation these people should be taken OUT of circulation and thrown in prison for what they've done.

I've noticed that ever since the Bank of Canada jumped in to smack
down the CDN$ from the $1.10 U.S. level (up untill then they hadn't
intervened in _years_) the 2 currencies have been floating within a
penny or two of each other. It looks really similar to the first stage
of the ERM in Europe, after which they went to the second stage
of fixed exchange rates in the period leading up to the Euro rolling
out in cash form to replace the old national currencies. The difference
being it was a stated policy over there. Not sure if this is co-incidence
or a covert move leading up to a currency union on this continent,
which may (or may not) include Mexico. The signs for Canada and
the U.S. are looking pretty strong for a rate fixing at par though...

Only shear speculation on my part of course. ;)
