Why is it that on 2 different digital scales I find that my Engelhard "10 oz" bars are weighing 11.015? Is this bonus silver?
This is on the old "loaf" bars and the newer longer flatter bars from Engelhard.

i cant see the scale type very well, my fault, not yours, anyway,Troy ounces, which are what silver is measured are larger than avoirdupois oz,480 grains v.s 437.5 grains, switch it over to grains and see what you have. being its an englehardt bar, if it was indeed 11+ ozs troy actual weight, id be worried about its authenticity, its probably a scale issue though

You're right. It's TROY ounces on the bar, which is 311.034 grams for 10 troy ounces. Measuring in grams on my scale shows 312.1.

Every bar and round I have by Engelhard is over by a few grains at least.Maybe one of the reasons folks like them so much and are willing to pay a premium for them.

If you weight bullion items precisely enough you'll find that no two weigh exactly the same. Most in my experience will weigh a tad more then what is struck on them. I weighed 31 different 1 oz Ag rounds a few years ago and found that all by 2 weighted more than 31.1035 g.
The increase in weight wasn't much, 1 to 4 grains. The two that weighed less were respectfully only 1 and 2 grains short. Manufacturers produce items that are acceptable if they fall within an acceptable tolerance.
