I must agree with you every thing in life is based on the two emotions of fear and faith.Being familar with the 12 Step slogans I have lived in both though generally towards the fear part.I was always told that fear is not seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and dispairing and that faith was just knowing it's there and rejoicing.Even the markets are based on the fundamentals of fear and faith look at stock.Stock has little to do with what a company is worth and more to do with what people believe the company will or will not be worth.This flu stuff and economic instability does worry me now that I have a little boy but I believe it's just media hype.Woe is us the unfortunate who will save us from this pandemic and economic crisis look it's a bird ,no it's a plane ,no it's Super Fed lol

Fear is a great motivator. I have read numerous times how fear drives people to great heights.People have recounted countless times how fear of failure or fear of letting team-mates/family/friends down in times of distress have driven them to overcome incredible odds. Of course fear has it's down side too.
Good or bad, it's in our DNA. You can use it but we're unlikely to ever lose it.

Matthew 10:26
Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.

Many people nowadays assume that "fear" means terrified shiver-me-timbers-type definition, but in Days of Olde fear also meant to "have a healthy respect".

or sincere respect for....as in:

Proverbs 9:10

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

Psalm 33:18

Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;
