Nice to have an adult section of the forum.
But we will still have fun,

Thank you, Chris, for establishing this forum. I hope that most of the more active members will move over into it --- that is, most of the serious and more active members!

This is exciting news. I am really looking forward to the opportunity to share some thoughts on where silver is heading etc. with the most experienced voices on the forum.

Thank you.

interesting concept, I've seen something similar to this at a tech forum, but the whole thing had some overly elaborate voting/invite system that eventually became a monster.

The control freek site owner eventually shut it completely down, but I think he must have beena bit neurotic and it was certainly his way or the way out.

I have to ask however, what are the parameters and rule to this setup? what determines who has access already, based on what, who can gain, and how do they gain access? are outlines posted somewhere I havent looked?

Cheers, and good luck with this setup! thanks!

Kris

Cheers. Your choice to make changes is welcome, whether all agree or not. Personally, I appreciate the change. I've been on this forum for longer than most (albeit under different screen-names) and value the change tremendously. I hope this change is something that allows it to grow, and benefit the people that come here.

For the record, I hope WE ALL can learn a bit from the previous carnage, by gaining tolerance, and valuing what we have here. While I was contributor to the growth of malignancy, I always wished for the best. For whatever reason, we have ALL come up for a breath of fresh air. Let's use this as an opportunity to learn from each other, and gather in a place that allows us the ability to do so.

That said [and I just gotta say this], many of us fell to the sword of trolls.

TROLL: An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who posts controversial, inflammatory, irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum or chat room, with the primary intent of provoking other users into an emotional response or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion.

Let's not make the mistake of taking for granted the differing opinions that gather here. For me, MY PERFECT EXAMPLE is Katwoman. I DETEST her constant quotations of the Founding Fathers' verbiage and the constitutional mumbo-jumbo that she espouses day in and day out. BUT...that is nothing more than a difference in opinion...not an abuse or "trolling" of said discussion. I respect her, and she respects me. Of course, she and I are not the means by which this forum subsists, but you get the idea. We all must play a part in the ideology of a forum that shares open ideals, opinions, and discussions.

THAT SAID...the previous incarnation (and I hope it is truly PREVIOUS) of this forum allowed for WAY too much DISRESPECT. It is up to every person who posts here to maintain a respectful manner in which he/she posts in order to keep the forum healthy. While I do not expect the moderators to play a part in this "new" forum, I hope that each of us can withhold our own transgressions enough to let THIS Silverseek live. Otherwise, I suspect it will be dead as a Lehman Brothers' share. 8-)

Being old and cranky, I'm not usually crazy about change. I like this

I agree with the previous seven posts regarding this change. I came to learn about silver and investing in same. This will hopefully go a looooong way to get things back on track.
I am not allowed to post new threads, is the access a sliding scale invite on time served ?

Thanks for the opportunity to join in this new, limited access forum. Although I must say that I am stunned. I figured I have more than violated the TOS with my inanity and political rancor in the past. I guess not.

Bob,
The view from my pile, yours may be different.

There was a glitch in member allowances to post in this new forum that has now been solved. We are still going through the process of figuring out which members will be allowed to post in this forum based on time spent at the forum and quality and number of posts. If you feel you qualify to these terms, please message those members that already have permission to post and if the majority of existing "Silver Seekers" agree that you are reliable and respectful of the forum’s Terms of Service, then I will instate you as a "Silver Seeker" and you will be allowed to post here. After this initial round of instating memebers, there will be a one month hold until newer members will be considered.

Regards,

Chris

I try very hard to "detest" you too but only because you constantly shine that dam light of evolutionary hope of yours on my otherwise dark and dismal perception of America's future ;) Aside from that you're alright in my book which at times forces me to merely "disagree" with you. But if we all agreed why would we need to communicate and share our ideas? Differences of opinion spawn the quest for truth which ultimately makes us all that much better informed as investors.

I just wish my gold and silver was as pretty as my avatar and didn't have the old British hag on the back of most of them.

Good to see my favorite posters are on this forum. I've learned alot from you over the last difficult months. Looking back since last March: Silver, the economy, politics, and the old forum, really went through the wringer. HiYo Silver and Jester Jay helped me keep from the temptation to sell off some of my silver. Suze-Q helped to solidify my old Preparists values, and so now I'm welled stocked with food, fuel, and silver. I feel like I weathered last years storms, and I'm prepared for the next ones if and when they occure. I'll be pretty busy this summer, I got some mining claims in Northwest Alaska to tend to, and a lot of salmon and halibut fishing for the stomach and soul. Hunting in the fall, and then after the first few snow---PC time during the long dark winter months. With 22 hours of daylight now--well, gotta go. God Bless You All, and See Ya At The Top.
