Does anybody know how Royal Canadian Bars compare with Johnson and Matthey and Englehardts?
I'm asking because the guy from Monex, where I'm buying from, says their 100 oz bars are EITHER one of those three. But they can't guarantee which one when I go pick them up. I don't want to pay good money to get an "inferior" or less known make.
Thanks

englehard and JM ....are in a class by themselves as bars go for tradeing
in my opinon the other branded bars should trade at a slight discount to the above not because they are inferior its just that E and JM are 100% recognizeable and convertable back to cash anywhere in the world other bars certainly arnt lesser in quality just in recognizability and tradability
you might ask him to guarantte that the mix will not exceed 30% RCM or something like that but he can also choose not to sell to you.....or you could offer a slight premium etc. im sure they deal with this kind of situation all the time and it may be built into the priceing.

Thanks, Tazzman. I am REALLY thinking about buying from Apmex instead, having heard NOTHING BUT GOOD THINGS about them here and in the gold forum.
But I'll be buying a pretty big bulk, and I just feel somewhat risky to have all those silver bullions being mailed to me. What if they get lost or stolen? Not to mention I won't be able to examine my merchandise until after I have received them, meaning if I get screwed, I'll have no legal ground to stand on. (It'll look like I switched the steel for silver myself.) I don't like Monex very much at all, but I live close to them and can go pick up the bullions myself.
Anybody have any thoughts?

all the reputable sellers ship registered mail-insured
registered mail means it has to be wraped in a craft paper outside and every possible way to get into the package is stamped at the post office so there is no way to get into the package without you being able to tell.
when apmex's regular web site was up it had a video of the process steps they go through to double check and ship the package ...includeing video of the packages being packed and sealed also a package of the weight your talking about may end up in multiple packages which is better yet
if i were you i would do what you feel comfortable with because at the end of the day that is whats important
but i will say this.....i have ordered on ebay-onlygold-apmex litterally 100s of boxes of precious metals per year for the last 5 years and the only package that ever got lost was one with a single small gold coin comeing from canada and the sender reembursed me and collected the insurance and it was a ebay purchase.
another thing that might help you is to order in smaller increments so you dont feel so unsure
just some sugestions
