Can someone recommend the size of safe needed for about 1500 ounces of silver? I'm looking at Staples and Lowes locally, but not sure what size to get.

Boy...there's something to think about. How big? Do you "hide it"? Or is it out in plain sight? Do you bolt it down? Or do you simply buy one big enough that it can't be moved unless they show up with a crane? A gun safe? So you can throw in other valuables or a small, SILVER ONLY SAFE?
Personally, I'm a believer in BIG & HEAVY....they may as well go back out the way in which they came as there's no cracking this thing!! And sure it's an obvious target should thieves enter the premises. But not only is it bolted to the floor and back wall, at about 1000 lbs it ain't walking away either. I also like the idea of the thieves having to go through more than the one locked door too. Multiple locked, secure doors that open TOWARDS YOU also provide barriers to your valuables walking away. Doors are best done if they're "boot proof", so turn em around.
I also like the strategy of not having all of my eggs in one basket too. Even though I have a safe and I trust it, I don't hide all of my silver in there either. There's always a couple of hiding spots in your home that they wouldn't find flat valuable objects. Large flat bars could be hidden under wall to wall carpeting, inside walls, up somewhere high and flat, that list is endless and it can be so secure and yet it's just hiding almost in plain sight.
Good luck on your choice. Let us know what you decide on...
