- Tuesday, Dec.23, 2008 it was announced Alexco Resource Corp. (TSX:AXR)(NYSE Alternext US:AXU) has received the US $15 million initial tranche of financing from Silver Wheaton Corp. (TSX:SLW)(NYSE:SLW) payable under the previously announced silver purchase agreement.

The StockPicking.com stock alert newsletter reports that earlier this month it placed two alerts to its subscribers on Silver Wheaton Corp. (TSX:SLW)(NYSE:SLW) at $3.15 and $4.53 a share. Last check the stock has risen 120% to $6.98 a share in just a few days of trading. According to the top trader at the newsletter, the stock was alerted because the newsletter believed it was a good value... down from $11 a share where it was trading in September. In addition the StockPicking.com newsletter mentioned that a rechargeable battery with a 40% greater life... and contains silver is close to market. A recent report states, "...a top-tier laptop manufacturer will release the first computer designed to accept silver-zinc batteries in mid-2009." This should boost the sale of silver in the newsletter's opinion.

Then the price of silver explodes and the neat long life silver something battery goes extinct quicker than the dinosaurs grazing in a meteor field eons ago. :D Maybe that's why we better buy these as soon as one can. I'm wondering how they'll market this? Through the www.ccrane.com company model or the saturate the market, now available everywhere type release?
I'm wondering what kind of silver stash this company has too, as you'd think that with something like this on the horizon, this is EXACTLY the type of outfit that'll be looking to stockpile silver, for without any silver we don't have these trick, neat, long life silver something batteries to offer. And I'm guessing they like the idea of stocking up on sub $10 silver as opposed to the $20 something silver of the not-too-distant-future as well.
If you like SLW like I do, I'm betting you'd also like Alexco (AXU), especially after inking the deal with SLW for $50M, thereby insuring enough cash to bring one of their star projects into production, in return for a 25% share of their silver production from that same project. You can do a search over at www.seekingalpha.com for a couple of excellent articles on Alexco. I purchased a few thousand shares a couple of months ago to go along with my SLW holding and I'll be dammed if they didn't do a deal together, which I took as a great sign of confidence in both the company and what they produce.

Silver usages will continue to expand if the world doesn't fall off a cliff.
I still can't believe SLW got hammered so hard this fall. Just have to scoop up more. Like the two companies working together. By the way your caricature is in the top 5% at this forum! You do the math!;)

That's from an old family portrait I found.....I just wanted you guys to know what I look like. So if you see me in the mall or the coin shop, introduce yourself and we'll talk....shop!! :)

One of my quirks is that I have a special folder on my computer that's marked misc. internet images and every time I'm doing anything and I come across a picture that I find appealing in some way, I just right click it and save em to this folder. These are R rated at best and it's just not beautiful women I find appealing (though they're in the top 5), there's anything from pictures of a Beaver float plane to images from R. Kenton Nelson to old Kinsey logging pictures, cool limited edition prints, silver & gold bullion, treasure pics, there's even a high heel collage print, you name it there's something for everyone in this group of pics. Anyway, then I'll make a screen saver or integrate them into my www.webshots.com collection. Sometimes it's apparently so fascinating that my friends will have their attention wander if we're talking in the computer room and the screen saver is on. There's just a LOT of cool images I've collected over the years.
That image is in some other pastel artworks which include a guy named R. Kenton Nelson and though he paints in this style, I don't think this image is from his works as he only does cityscapes in pastel colors in an art deco style. Still, I thought that to be a very distinct looking character, even though we share the trait of beady eyes though my beard's better!! :D Just kidding... :D

I had done some casual reading on this silver battery. If I recall right( I often don't) it will be much more durable and stable and safer than lithium ion batteries. I think the source of supply of lithium is pretty tied up mostly with Toyota for their car batteries. The only known large source of supply is in south america and Toyota has it sewed up. GM knows they have to get going on an electric car and their idea of using nickle hydride batteries is not a good solution weight wise. So if silver becomes a component in car and computer batteries silver might do very well.
