My cousin makes his own colloidal silver using three 9v batteries, a strip of silver wire and a glass pan. He says to run it until the silver turns a little yellow, but if the water turns a bit brown, you have gone too long.

I plan to try this to eliminate having to pay $30 for 2 - 3 ounces of colloidal silver solution. Anyone else have any experience with doing this?

I've been doing this for the last ten years. (Not blue yet).
But I only make up a batch when I need it. (cold, food poisoning, etc)

I hope he is using two pieces of silver. One for Positive and one for negative.

Never Never use tap water. You do not know what is in it to form compounds of silver that are bad.

Use distilled water only. Now distilled water will not conduct electricity, so
some people use salt to speed it up. BAD BAD BAD Will form I think Silver
chloride as I've been told or other compounds.

To get around this gently heat the water in glass container only. (Hot water
will conduct). After 10-15 min you should see a slight discoloration of
the silver if you have the temp right. To hot and the reaction is to fast.
IF you see swirls of metal coming from the silver move them farther apart
or cool the water.
You want it nice and slow. I usually take about a hour and the water
takes on a slightly golden color. I am only doing about 4 oz.
at a time.

Experiment several times until you get it right. I'm still using the same
1/8 inch silver wire I purchase 10 years ago and can not see any
wear on it. I think it will last for life.

Also make sure the wires connected to the silver are NOT in the water.
Just the silver is in the water. You do not need any other reaction
going on.

This maybe stronger than you store liquid so be cautious on usage.
I've never purchase colloidal silver. If you have some see if it has a
color to it and match your home made. IF no color then try diluting
home stuff to the same.

Ionic vs Colloidal, and Silver Nanoparticles

I have tried making colloidal silver with the three 9v battery setup. It is a virtual shot-in-the-dark. I got white clouds, brown beard looking matter hanging from the wire, and even deposits that fell to the bottom of the container. I did not drink any of my experimental solution.

Then I did a fair amount of research on various commercial products to make colloidal silver. I found a very wide range of claims and warnings. It was confusing to say the very least.

Finally I found the GIM – Colloidal Silver forum. Then I began reading about a guy named Arnold Beland from atlasnova.com. Here is the link:

http://goldismoney.info/forums/showthread.php?t=215697

He has the knowledge and experience (30 years+) making colloidal silver. I discovered that making collordal silver is not rocket science -- BUT IT DOES INVOLVE SOME SCIENCE. I ordered a “kit” from Arnold today. After I have had time to use it I will report back here. Getting the job done right is most important to me, and I feel that now I have found the right way to do it.

I saw a guy like that out in Colorado once, but since he was about 6' 6", I didn't ask him any questions...:D

The ionic silver like mentioned in the thread I linked to has no danger of that. I have a couple of amazing personal testimonies about the stuff if anyone wants to PM me about it.

As posted elsewhere:

What the news media and the NBC snippet does not tell you is Paul Karason ( blue guy in the picture) experimented over years with his electrolysis:
"...To make the solution even more dangerous, he added salt to the brew and then used electrolysis to make a high concentration of silver chloride with large particles which is well known to cause argyria. He further applied the compound to his skin causing him to become an internal and external photographic plate. To finish himself off, he used a tanning bed to "fix" the silver in his body...". Mr. Beland's CSG-1 is what I bought and use for my Colloidal Ag.

Ken J wrote: "...Now distilled water will not conduct electricity...".

This is not true. I used room temperature distilled water for my 2nd batch. It does take about three hours to observe electrolysis but it picks up quickly after that, and taking about a total of 5 hours + to make a quality batch Mr. Beland's instructions prefer.
