I do not have a total amount of silver content usage, but you may want to research "Silver Polymer Batteries"

Most Hybrids use nickel based batteries, the usage of lithium-ion batteries is small but growing. I am not sure how much silver is in the sulfate type baths, if any at all. As for the vehicles themselves, I guess since there are more computers there is more silver usage, but not enough to make any difference in consumption numbers. Matter of fact, with the problems in Japan, PM usage is down globally as far as vehicle usage goes. For example, the only Toyota being produced in Japan right now is the Prius, and at about 50% of scheduled production. There are people missing that worked in key areas of the plants by the way.

Way to resurrect a 6 year old thread duney. I'm sure he's still sitting at his computer waiting for an answer.
