Nice to see you're back Jake.
Of course the news you're providing is terrible but that's not on you.
In this Alice in Wonderland enviroment nothing makes much sense and the longer it persists the more you end up questioning most everything you thought you knew.
I fear we are truly doomed. Bummer, it's a nice day outside too.

Surely this is a great achievement for the Ministry of Universal Health, so fair and equal, one step forward for our brave collectivist utopia, double-plus good.

Senate Republicans say Dems ignoring meeting requests

Senate Republicans on Sunday said that their Democratic counterparts have ignored requests to meet jointly with the parliamentarian about a potential rule violation that they say could halt the reconciliation healthcare bill.

Republicans say that a provision in the reconciliation packages raises Social Security revenue, thereby violating rules regulating the reconciliation process.

"Republicans have been trying to set up a meeting with Senate Democrats since yesterday to discuss this fatal point of order but have been met with nothing but silence," Don Stewart, spokesman for Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said in a statement. "We suspect Democrats are slow walking us so as to have the House vote first."

Republicans and Democrats still must meet to discuss what in the reconciliation package being considered by the House Sunday can be taken up by the Senate under the rules. The process would allow Democrats to pass fixes using a simple majority vote, bypassing a Republican filibuster of the bill.

The release was issued just hours before the House is set to vote on the bill.

Some House Democrats and many Republicans have expressed doubts that the Senate will act upon the fixes, but the Democrats have appeared to pick up more votes from concerned members.

Senate Democrats said they had scheduled a meeting with the GOP and parliamentarian for Friday, which the Republicans "boycotted," adding that that they believe the Republicans are trying to "spook" House Democrats just before the vote.

"We had a meeting scheduled with the parliamentarian on Friday which the Republicans boycotted, I believe because we did not have a final language. Republicans then suggested late last night that we meet first thing this morning," Regan Lachapelle, spokesperson for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said. "As they have done repeatedly in the past, they wanted to try to spook the House before the final vote." And like before they have nothing from the parlimentarian to support their claims. Whether we met or not they were going to say the same thing. It is a cynical strategy, albeit a highly misleading one."

Republicans say that the Social Security provision breaks a rule that limits changes that can be made to entitlement programs using reconciliation.

CONGRESSIONAL BUDGET ACT: “LIMITATION ON CHANGES TO THE SOCIAL SECURITY ACT.—Notwithstanding any other provision of law, it shall not be in order in the Senate or the House of Representatives to consider any reconciliation bill or reconciliation resolution reported pursuant to a concurrent resolution on the budget agreed to under section 301 or 304, or a joint resolution pursuant to section 258C of the Balanced Budget and Emergency Deficit Control Act of 1985, or any amendment thereto or conference report thereon, that contains recommendations with respect to the old-age, survivors, and disability insurance program established under title II of the Social Security Act.” (Congressional Budget Act Of 1974, Sec. 310g, P. 31)

Santorum was just on Fox talking to Greta: “1st they vote on Senate Bill. Then they vote on the reconciliation fix. BUT...1974 BUDGET ACT LAW SAYS IF ANY PROVISIONS IN THE BILL AFFECT SOCIAL SECURITY REVENUES....THE WHOLE BILL BECOMES INVALID FOR RECONCILIATION. NOT JUST THAT PROVISION BUT THE WHOLE BILL FALLS! MCCONNELL IS TRYING TO MEET WITH THE PARLIMENTARIAN TO GET A RULING ON IT BEFORE THE VOTE AND IT IS STILL AN OPEN QUESTION..”

And the majority of America sat back and watched basketball. :-(

Not me. I spent most of the day getting the garden ready to plant so that I can be sure of some food to eat. Then I spent time making some money on an auction site so that I can buy more silver.

I suspect that my day was more typical than watching basketball for a large percentage of the denizens of this forum.

I had a family get together nobody mentioned it all day.

Karl Marx would be proud, we added the eleventh plank to his Communist Manifesto which consisted of only ten planks before.

We're f'ed.

HEALTHCARE BILL IS A COVER TACTIC

A great deal of people are getting upset about this Healthcare Bill. I for one can't believe Kucinich voted for it...that twit. Regardless, the passing of this bill keeps a percentage of Americans off the real BAD NEWS.

When the system Disintegrates, it wont matter.

Today is a fateful day for America. The passage of Obamacare will mark the middle of the end of our country. The beginning of the end was the bailout of Wall Street by the taxpayers. Obama and the Democrats have gone into full Joseph Goebbels mode.

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”

Your “honest, wise, and all knowing” leaders have been saying that the Congressional Budget Office report says this 2,700 page monstrosity will reduce the deficit by $136 billion in the next 10 years. Did you know that we add $4.3 billion per day to the National Debt? That means we add $136 billion to the National Debt EVERY MONTH. Did you know that the CBO projection from 2000 to 2010 was just “off” by $5.2 TRILLION!!!!!!! The deficits were $5.2 TRILLION worse than they projected. We are going to trust these morons? The corrupt snakes who slither the halls of Congress know exactly what to put into and keep out of a bill to get the necessary result from the CBO. The Democrats took things out of the bill that cost $300 billion and moved it to another bill. Brilliant!! The bill says they will eliminate $500 billion of fraud and waste from Medicare & Medicaid. These programs have been in existence since 1965. Why haven’t our beloved government bureaucrats eliminated fraud and waste prior to this bill? Not necessary?

I have created hundreds of financial models in my career. Have you ever heard someone say, “What do you want the number to be?”. I could create a model to give me any answer I want. I left IKEA because I refused to “fake” the numbers for the idiot CEO who couldn’t balance her own checkbook. I can guarantee you that this bill will add unfunded liabilities of at least $20 trillion to our already unpayable debt.

No one likes this bill, but it is being passed into law anyway. Politicians do not care about the people of the United States. Each party cares about power. The Democrats know this will not help the Average American. They just want a political victory. The Republicans are actually happy this bill will pass. They care only about regaining power in November. This entitlement will never be repealed. No entitlement has ever been repealed in the history of our country.

This bill just pushes the country one step closer to national bankruptcy. I can not think of a worse thing to do at this point in US history. It almost seems like destiny that these ridiculous decisions are being made during this Crisis period, further exacerbating an already terrible situation.

I could do the same interview with those on the House who voted for it to get the same uninformed avoiding answers, and in Obama'a Fox's interview he DID sound that way.

They vote on it on a Sunday night around 10:30ish PM with March Madness going on ...... hmmmmm.

WAKE UP PEOPLE. This isn't a political party issue.
